CASE STUDY - COROMANDEL AREA SCHOOL, NZ
Coming out of lockdown in New Zealand, we worked with Coromandel Area School to design and deliver a wellbeing programme to children aged 5-18, taking into account the recent experiences of lockdown.

In these sessions children learned:
How to feel more grounded and centred
How to prepare the body for meditation
How to meditate andremain still and present
How to breathe to calm the mind
How to deal with difficult thoughts and emotions
(using the Clouds exercise for the younger children)
How to meditate using sound as a support
Introduction to therapeutic sound and music
How to play the chimes to calm one’s self
How to play the chimes to calm down the class
Jon also led a sound meditation with several classes, with children and teachers lying down and experiencing a deeper journey within, producing calm and relaxed feelings.
These immersive learning sessions were designed to teach several wellbeing approaches, skills and techniques in a way that would appeal to each age group. The sessions were cross-curricular, engaging, immersive and participatory.
Being in New Zealand, we also tailored the sessions to appeal to the spiritual sensibilities of the Maori culture.
We ran sessions for children as well as teachers and integrated these well into the normal school week.
